Netflix finally shared the teaser for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which is the anime spin-off of The Witcher.

The Witcher, which is a hugely popular Netflix series, has been successful enough to get a spin-off. That spin-off is going to be an anime film that will act as a prequel to the original series – not to be confused with the other spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live-action prequel currently in production.

We’ve been waiting to hear from The Witcher anime for quite a while now. Even though we saw Netflix announce some actors for Blood Origin occasionally, they were not very vocal with Nightmare of the Wolf. Fortunately, the virtual WitcherCon gave us an update on the anime. We learned its release date with a short video containing various scenes from it. And now, we finally have the official teaser for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which gives us a glimpse of the anime.

What is the synopsis of The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf?

As we mentioned before, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will be a prequel to the original The Witcher series. Still, it will not go back in time as much as Blood Origin will do. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will focus on the young life of Vesemir, who taught Geralt to be a good witcher.

By the way, Vesemir is not in the first season of the original The Witcher series, but we are going to see him in season 2. The Danish star Kim Bodnia is going to be the actor who’ll play Vesemir. He is also the voice actor of Vesemir in the anime film.

“Escaping from poverty to become a witcher, Vesemir slays monsters for coin and glory, but when a new menace rises, he must face the demons of his past.”

How long is The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf?

This one is going to be an anime movie, not a series. So, there’ll just be a single installment of Nightmare of the Wolf. The movie’s runtime is 1 hour and 21 minutes according to IMDb.

Fans seem to be excited about this new anime movie. They are mostly optimistic about Nightmare of the Wolf, hoping that it’ll be as good as Castlevania, which is a perfect example of a game-based anime.
