A brand new TV spot for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shows Simu Liu’s superhero fighting off assassins.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to release exclusively in theatres since Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s also the first non-sequel to come out of the franchise since Captain Marvel, so it’s safe to say that the hype is through the roof for Marvel’s latest offering. The film is set to focus on Shang-Chi, a young man who comes to terms with his past and association with The Ten Rings, a terrorist organization that first appeared in Iron Man.
With less than one month to go until its release, Marvel has released a brand new Shang-Chi TV spot that shows Simu Liu duking it out with two assassins. The first assassin Liu fights is Razor Fist, who is seen hunting the character on an LRT. The second assassin being fought is Death Dealer, who appears to be a formidable foe for Liu’s martial arts-trained character.
Beyond the action sequences, the teaser does a great job of introducing Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi to unsuspecting audiences as we see the character briefly discuss the fallout he’s had with his father: The Mandarin, who also happens to head The Ten Rings.
Here is the synopsis for Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings:
“Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, the Marvel film stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Ronny Chieng, and Dallas Liu. The upcoming film will hit theaters on September 3, 2021.
