Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has opened up about the post-credits scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Since its release, Venom: Let There Be Carnage has, like its predecessor, turned into an unlikely hit. The film opened with was, at the time, the single biggest pandemic weekend opening and has, as of this writing, earned well over $280M worldwide with a 60% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One of the things that had been teased and mentioned a lot was the potential for a crossover with Spider-Man which has been confirmed in various ways before the film was even released before the director himself confirmed it was in the works.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE TO FOLLOW
In the film’s post-credit scenes, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock watches J. Jonah Jameson’s newscast for the Daily Bugle where he reveals that Peter Parker is, in fact, Spider-Man. Venom then approaches the screen saying “That guy” before licking it. In a recent interview, Kevin Feige spoke about the scene in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and how it came together:
“There was a lot of coordination — and if you don’t know all the coordination yet, I’m not going to be the one to tell you — but yes, between Sony and Marvel and the Venom team and the No Way Home team… We worked together on it,”
Here is the synopsis for Venom: Let There Be Carnage:
“After finding a host body in investigative reporter Eddie Brock, the alien symbiote must face a new enemy, Carnage, the alter ego of serial killer Cletus Kasady.”
Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, the film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson.
