Netflix has spoiled us with choice as it keeps bringing new live-action anime adaptations for us. The streaming giant might not have the best library of live-action anime. But after Netflix’s Japan Festival 2021, fans can hope for an increase in the number of options available.
However, this isn’t a solution to the problem that fans face, i.e. lack of good options on Netflix. But we have made a list to make your job a little less hectic so that you can enjoy the cream of the crop. Some mentions on the list might not have been released yet.
4. Death Note
Death Note has made countless people fall in love with anime. Most people consider it a perfect fit for a newbie, but Netflix horribly messed up this one. Despite the engaging plot provided by the manga and no need for heavy special effects, Netflix somehow got it completely wrong.
Fans criticized the movie for its horrible casting, as they saw their favorite anime losing its authenticity. The 2017 Death Note received an abysmal 4.4 IMDb rating for its dismal performance.
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
It is a wonderful story about two brothers who are in search of the Philosophers’ Stone to revive their dead mother. While the 2017 movie will have a sequel, it doesn’t inspire enough confidence to watch the second one. One reason for the failure of the movie could be because the pacing isn’t up to the mark.
Fans of the sword-wielding spirit hunter wanted a reboot of the original anime. But when they saw the live-action adaptation, they understood why they should be careful while making wishes. Although Bleach isn’t the absolute worst in the live-action adaptation genre, there is certainly room for improvement.
1. Rurouni Kenshin
This is the best live action adaptation available on Netflix. Thus, it sits atop the list. The movie follows Himura Kenshin, a former assassin who seeks forgiveness for his past sins but ends up in the same mess because of an incident.
Any lover of samurai flicks should definitely consider watching this franchise of five films. All the films have an IMDb rating of around 7.5.
Live-action anime series
We have ranked the top live action anime movies available on Netflix. But if you want something which will keep you hooked for a longer time, then Netflix has announced a bunch of live-action anime series.
Alice in Borderland is a good option for viewers who want to watch the Japanese version of “Squid Game“. Netflix has also announced live-action series of popular animes like “One Piece” and “Yu Yu Hakusho”.
And there is “Cowboy Bebop” which Netflix released on November 19th. Thus, the dark days are behind us.
