Mahershala Ali’s Solo ‘Blade’ Film Adds Delroy Lindo

Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali.

A Blade reboot from Marvel Studios starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019. The project appeared to be a ways away at the time, but now production is gearing up with Bassam Tariq set to direct from a script written by Stacy Osei-Kuffor.

The Hollywood Repoter has now leared that Delroy Lindo is in final negotiations to join Mahershala Ali in the upcoming Blade film. It’s unknown who Lindo will play in the Marvel Studios picture, but production is said to begin late summer 2022.

Delroy Lindo recently starred in Netflix’s The Harder They Fall as real-life hero, Marshall Bass Reeves, who was also a prominent figure in HBO’s Watchmen. Other notable credits attached to Lindo’s name include Da 5 Bloods, Get Shorty, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Core, Malcolm X, and Clockers.

‘Blade’ Reboot Director Is ‘Honored’ To Work With Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali’s Blade first appeared in Marvel’s Eternals. Here is a synopsis for the film:

“The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.”

Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena.
