‘Cobra Kai’ Creators Name 3 Iconic Tracks by Bon Jovi, Queen, and Chaz Jankel They Wanted to Keep In the Show

For the fans of the iconic The Karate Kid

, the year 2018 turned out to be the best as the cast returned with Cobra Kai

, which looks into the events 34 years after the original movie. For six seasons, fans again got to see Ralph Macchio and William Zabka remind them of the nostalgic 80s with great viewer response on Netflix and YouTube.

During its recent run of 65 episodes, the show gave the fans some very memorable moments paired with entertaining music. Now that the show has ended, there are a few more tracks that the creators wished they had included in the episodes.

Cobra Kai creators share classic songs they missed for the show

Part of the credit for Cobra Kai

‘s seven-year-long run goes to the show’s three creators. Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, whose efforts made the former movies evolve into a larger universe. They fulfilled the fans’ wishes, but some of their own wishes remain unfulfilled, as in speaking to the Cobra Kai Companion Podcast

, they shared the needle drops from Bon Jovi and others they had wanted to use for the show but could not. Jon Hurwitz shared he wanted to add ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, the 1986 hit by Bon Jovi.

Hurwitz regrets that he never got to sample any music by Jovi. Josh Heald’s preference was ‘Princes of the Universe’ by Queen, another 1986 hit that never found its place on Cobra Kai

. For Hayden Schlossberg, the song of his choice was ‘Number One’ by Chaz Jankel. All are brilliant choices, but unfortunately, there was only so much space.

Nevertheless, the trio did a phenomenal job by bringing back the original cast for Cobra Kai

, which has paved the way for the upcoming Karate Kid: Legend.

Karate Kid: Legends to hit the screens soon

Last year, the fandom got a big surprise when Sony announced Karate Kid: Legends,

an extension of the Karate Kid

saga with Jackie Chan’s return. Its first trailer was released at New York Comic Con in 2024, also starring Ralph Macchio and Ben Wang as the new kid on the block. The upcoming movie is already getting a lot of hype and is scheduled to release on 30th May.
But that is not all for
Cobra Kai

fans.

While promoting the last season of the show back in November, the creators visited the Final Draft’s Write On

podcast and hinted at the possibility of a new spinoff show that could follow the journey of a young Mr. Miyagi soon. All things are winding up well in the Karate Kid

universe.
