“He’s being forced to become humble”: Jason Bateman on Marty Byrde’s Character Arc in Ozark Season 4 Part 2

We all sympathize with the Byrde family. Even though whatever they do is not even remotely legal but the thing that resonates with viewers is their desperate attempt to leave all of this behind. They also have a strong sense of familial bond as they try to keep each other safe. Especially Marty Byrde, who has been trying to keep his wife and children safe from the first day. So now that Ozark season 4 part 2 is right around the corner. Jason Bateman has been talking about how Marty’s arc is different from the other season.

Let us see what the actor had to say about his character in the final episodes of Netflix’s Ozark.

How is Marty Byrde different in Ozark season 4 part 2?

As we are closing in on the story of the Byrde family and the finals episodes are just a few days away. Showrunner Chris Mundy and stars Laura Linney and Jason Bateman were seen talking about the shows’ last season and what to expect from it.

While talking about his character Marty, Jason Bateman talked about his whole arc through the show. The American actor explained how Marty’s arc is going to be different from the previous seasons.

He said that we felt that Marty is trying to act smarter than he is in previous seasons, but the very next episode would prove that he isn’t smart enough. Jason lets the viewers know that the family is in a position they never thought they’d be in. As a result, he says Marty is “forced to be humble a little bit.”

But Bateman follows this statement by saying that with humbleness comes an equal amount of intelligence. And Laura Linney, who Wendy, says that the last season is the season where “the families become sort of encapsulated within themselves.”
