It is January—a month often seen as a dumping ground for lackluster releases at the box office. But this time, Hollywood has completely changed course. January is now home to one of the biggest and most highly anticipated releases—the latest take on the classic Universal Monster, Wolf Man
. And it turns out that fans are not the only ones excited for the upcoming reboot of the 1941 classic.
Jason Blum, the film’s producer recently attested to the fact that Wolf Man
is a must-watch movie during a recent podcast.
Jason Blum hails Wolf Man as a must-watch in 2025
During a recent episode of their SmartLess
podcast, Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, Will Arnett, and Jason Blum shared their top must-watch movies for 2025. At the top of their list was the horror reboot, Wolf Man.
“It is great. It is Leigh who did the Invisible Man. It is amazing”
. The film was first announced in 2014, originally planned to be part of a shared cinematic universe featuring the Universal Monsters.
In an interview with Empire, leads Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner talked about their first reactions to seeing the reimagined creature. While Garner had seen an early glimpse before filming began, she admitted that seeing it in person on set left her absolutely shocked. These teases have further made the wait for the movie even harder for fans. Unfortunately, it seems they will have to hold out a little longer.
Wolf Man
, which was scheduled for a January release, has now been postponed along with several other premieres in Hollywood because of the LA wildfires.
Why was Wolf Man’s premiere postponed?
Wolf Man
, the latest take on the Universal Monster classic, was supposed to have its premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Tuesday night. However, due to worsening weather conditions in Los Angeles and related evacuations, the event had to be canceled. “Tonight’s premiere of ‘Wolf Man’ is cancelled due to sensitivities around the worsening weather situation in LA
,” a Universal spokesperson informed in a statement.

In addition, Jennifer Lopez’s Unstoppable
premiere was also canceled by Amazon because of severe weather and evacuations in affluent residential areas. Other studios, like Paramount and Max, also called off their premieres and events
, including Emilia Perez
’s celebration and the premiere of The Last Showgirl.
While fans were bummed by Wolf Man
‘s premiere cancellation, most of them are still happy to wait for its release in theaters.
