Shults co-wrote the screenplay with Tesfaye and Reza Fahim, both of whom also produced the film alongside Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. The story follows Tesfaye portraying a fictionalized version of himself—a musician unravelling mentally, drawn into a surreal journey by an enigmatic stranger, with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan as co-stars.
