The man who became known as the Killer Clown tells his own story with chilling truthfulness in never-before-heard recordings from his death-row prison cell. Netflix’s newest Conversations With a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes takes place almost 30 years after his execution for brutally murdering 33 young men and boys during his six-year killing spree.
The recordings are creepy, and Gacy boasts to his attorneys about “outsmarting” the authorities. He also disclosed that his victims were “not human beings,” and confessed that murdering a young guy gave him “a mind-numbing orgasm.” Here is a brief history of the most notorious killers of all time.
John Wayne Gacy or the Killer Clown
Conversations With a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes, which launched on April 20th on the streaming site, comprises never-before-heard recordings of Gacy obtained by his lawyer. He states, “Now I want to be my own judge, jury, and executioner” in the newly discovered tapes.
It was mysterious how an everyday man could turn out to be the most horrific killer in history. However, John Wayne Gacy was just that.
Society was taken aback when they found that he buried 29 dead in the crawl space of his calm Chicago suburban house. Five others were dumped in a nearby river when he ran out of room beneath his home.
His legal defense team examined Gary in over 60 hours of recorded testimony while awaiting trial for murder. In one such interview with his defense team, John commented, “Clowns can get away with anything. Clowns can get away with murder.”

So, how did John end up being a murder?
The answer lies in his childhood. He had a difficult upbringing as the victim of a physically and emotionally violent alcoholic parent.
Gacy was routinely beaten and mocked as a “sissy” who would “probably grow up queer.”
“He liked his mother’s softness and genteel attitude compared to the father,” clinical psychologist Richard Rappaport told Netflix. Richard was the main psychiatrist for Gacy’s defense.
