Kendrick Lamar Breaks His Own Record for Rapper With the Highest-Grossing Show Worth $14.81 Million

Back in 2018, when Kendrick Lamar collaborated with SZA for ‘All the Stars’ in Black Panther

, they created history. Adding more shine to this glory was the Academy Award nomination for best original song. Now, years after, Lamar has carved another history in the world of rapping. With a bombastically successful year already in the bag, Lamar has added another feather to his hat.

Currently on the Grand National Tour, two days ago, Lamar took the stage in Seattle and turned a show-stopping performance into something that further solidifies his ‘Biggest Hater’ title not just for Drake, but also for himself.

On May 18, Kendrick Lamar took control of the massive stage of the sold-out Lumen Field on Saturday, along with SZA, in the middle of pouring rain. Together, they set the stage on fire with a two-and-a-half-hour set, taking turns performing. A thorough success on and off stage, the show went on to gross a record-breaking revenue of $14.81 million in one night, marking the highest-grossing show ever by a rapper. The irony? The record was earlier held by none other than Lamar himself, who cashed $11.8 million in Texas earlier in May.

The Grammy winning artist sold a total of 60,941 tickets for his Seattle show, which ultimately aided in him breaking his own record. Lamar’s victory was also edged by his most successful collaboration SZA, who has been performing with him on the tour and on the night in question belted out some of her greatest hits of all time.

the highest-grossing concert by a Black male artist in history, breaking the
record of The Weeknd, who grossed $9.8 million at his 2022 concert at SoFi
Stadium in Los Angeles. Once again earning both revenue and accolades.

With the tour currently ongoing and further increasing in size and success, who is to tell that this will be the last time that Kendrick Lamar beats himself at the global stage.
