Netflix Scraps 90% Originals From This Country Amid Financial Crunch, Might Hurt Fans and Potential Subscribers

It looks like Netflix has been dropping a bomb on us every other day since the announcement of a poor quarter. First, it was the news of strict password sharing terms and conditions, followed by the possibility of advertisements being released. But none of them affected the content being produced. However, it looks like Netflix is taking drastic measures in a few countries.

Let us take a look at which country Netflix will be dropping major projects.

Netflix is taking drastic steps

Well, it appears that the previous decrease was the final straw, as we’ve now learned that Netflix India is planning to take extreme measures to combat the dip. Netflix is supposedly in the process of dumping 90% of its future slate of Indian web series and features.

Rumors are that Netflix India is trying a newer, more commercial approach to its content.

They are diverging from the serious, dark, artistic path it had been on to entice viewers because most of what’s on its slate fall into the former category. So the OTT platform is allegedly scrapping a large chunk of what’s on its slate.

Delhi Crime is in serious trouble

According to reports, the upcoming Indian Netflix series Delhi Crime season 2 is in hot water. The streaming service appears to be dissatisfied with whatever output they’re receiving for Delhi Crime season 2. They have repeatedly ordered for massive portions of the show to be reshot. This is one of the major reasons for the prolonged delay.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it could mean that Netflix is looking for more ways to increase their poor revenue than just increasing subscribers. This indicated that the streaming giant is replanning its strategies and who knows which country will be next.

What are your thoughts on this new approach that the streamer is adopting since the news of the poor revenues has been released? Is it a better way to increase revenue than to ask for more fees? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
