No Man’s Sky introduces spirits and visions in new Halloween event

No Man’s Sky has received a truly stunning of free updates over the years, adding everything from cosmic whales to a space smuggling career. Few of these updates look to be as spine-tingling and spooky as this next update, set to arrive just in time for Halloween. The Cursed is a new update starting on Oct. 23 that will run for two weeks, and players can expect a thorough haunting from another dimension.

During The Cursed, the No Man’s Sky universe will cross over with another realm, causing all sorts of eerie effects like visions, voices, time dilation, and ghostly beings. Some of these astral encounters can turn hostile, with new enemies and boss battles “at a scale not seen before in No Man’s Sky,” according to Hello Games.

In order to make The Cursed even more challenging, the event will not have hyperdrive technology, which means players will have to rely on portals to get around. Some of the voices may provide good advice, giving travelers directions towards information or blueprints. Others may be a little less benevolent.

The Cursed includes a UFO-style starship for players to earn, a Cthulhu-esque customization for the Exosuit, bioluminescent pets, and others seasonal rewards. I don’t know about you guys, but this “world of glass” and its siren call sounds pretty tempting. I think we should all go to the world of glass, and do not bring weapons.

The sickos at Hello Games intend to deliver even more updates for No Man’s Sky, which is appreciated if getting a bit excessive. The recent Worlds (Part 1) update implies an eventual Part 2, and Hello Games promises “several more surprises” in the coming weeks.
