The anime series follows a shaman named Yoh Asakura. Yoh is a medium that is able to see both the world of the living and the dead. And his goal is to achieve the title of the Shaman King as it allows one to reach the Great Spirit to assume control of the world.

In order to contact the mighty and the divine spirit, Yoh must gain victory in the ultimate tournament named Shaman Fight. Yet he faces his brother Hao Asakura in his epic journey, who wants to become the Shaman King only to bring destruction to the world.

Here’s the official synopsis of Shaman King:

“The fate of the world hangs in the balance as Medium Yoh Asakura joins the epic Shaman Fight, competing with other shamans in a bid to become the all-powerful Shamna King while facing an opponent bent on the disaster.”
