Finally! The producer of Stranger Things teased a release date announcement in a recent interview for season 4. Fortunately, they’re going to announce the release date “quite soon.” Let’s check out what Shawn Levy said and what our expectations are.

Speaking to Variety, the producer touched on many topics about the new season. He also explained the reasons behind the long wait. After that, Levy said a release date announcement was imminent. Even if we don’t know what he exactly means, this remark is pretty exciting.

“It [season 4] is visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons,” said Shawn Levy. After that, he explained the major reason for the delay, which is pretty much what we know.

“The delay is due in large measure to COVID and the pace at which we have to work to do so safely, but it also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It’s the scale of this season and the multi-settings of Season 4.”

When it came to talking about a release date, Levy delighted the fans.

“It’s coming soon enough. And as for when exactly that will be announced — quite soon.”

Even if the release date will be announced quite soon, we still don’t know when season 4 is coming.

Stranger Things season 4 possible release date

Usually, Netflix likes to announce the release dates when it’s not too far. We’re talking about around 1-2 months of a wait here. However, this hasn’t been the case with Stranger Things. They announced the third season’s release date seven months before the release date. This means we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up to see a 2021 release. Is it possible, though? Yes. Is it very likely? I don’t think so.

The production is coming to an end in August, it seems. That much we know from David Harbour’s remarks and actors finishing their scenes. We’ll have to wait for the crew to finish the post-production process after that. Usually, it takes around 6-8 months, and it is far more likely to be longer for this season. That’s because Stranger Things season 4 will be a big one and it will need a lot of VFX. Netflix has to take its time to deliver us a great set of episodes, so we doubt a 2021 release would be fit for that. Furthermore, Finn Wolfhard previously said they were expecting a 2022 release.

Therefore, we expect an early 2022 release date for Stranger Things season 4 right now. When that can exactly be? Well, we don’t know anything official or certain about that. Still, Netflix likes to release bangers on holidays. And Stranger Things’ new season will feature a lot of winter as there’ll be scenes in the USSR. So, they could try to get the new season released around the Valentines’ Day, when winter will be freezing cold and people will be chillaxing at their homes. If not, March or May 2022 still remains a good possibility.
