While talking about the new season, he explained a secret about Jim Hopper, which they’ve been keeping for a long time along with the Duffer brothers. Apparently, the actor knew it all the way from the start, and it’s finally the time to unveil it. Here’s what Harbour had to say.

“There’s one thing in it that plays very big in this season that I’ve known since the first frame of the first season.

Me and the Duffers would sit around and speculate, ‘Oh, wouldn’t this be cool?’ the minute we started shooting. We never thought we’d even get a second season, and then we get to do it in this season.

It’s so satisfying to have had an idea five years prior, and to go like, ‘Oh, this is a season when we’re gonna let out this secret that we were using just as a subtle thing to inform something.’ We’re gonna lay it out finally, and it’s really cool.”

Harbour also expressed his praise for the next season yet again, teasing at how big it is compared to the previous seasons. Previously, he hinted at some plot twists that are going to take place in Stranger Things season 4. I can’t help but wonder whether those twists are connected to the secret that he mentioned in this interview. Who knows? We’ll see when Stranger Things season 4 finally lands on Netflix. What is the release date of Stranger Things season 4?

There’s nothing official about the release date yet, but we have some educated guesses.

The production process is hopefully coming to an end this August. That comes from nobody other than David Harbour himself. “We should be done in, like, August,” he said.

Netflix usually takes around half a year to complete the post-production processes of new seasons. Stranger Things’ new season is going to be a pretty heavy one, so it might take a little longer than that.

Assuming they finish filming by the end of this August, we can expect an early-mid 2022 release date for Stranger Things’ fourth season. Previously, Finn Wolfhard hinted at a 2022 release date, which lines up with our expectations.
