Unfortunately, Stranger Things season 4 won’t be making its way to Netflix this August. Here’s when we can expect the new season to drop. Is it coming this year or not?

As you all probably know, Stranger Things is an exceptionally popular series on Netflix. In fact, it is one of the most famous shows on the streaming platform. The latest season was released on Netflix way back in July 2019, and we’ve been waiting for season 4 since. Due to the pandemic, the wait has been rather long when we compare it to the other seasons. As a matter of fact, it’s coming to an end soon, but not this August. Stranger Things season 4 will not be on Netflix the next month. But August will mark another important milestone for Stranger Things season 4’s production, which is a possible wrap on the season.

Netflix started shooting Stranger Things’ fourth season in February 2020, but it still hasn’t come to an end. A reason for this might be the attention to detail in the new season, but undoubtedly, we have another major reason, which is the pandemic. Just like any other major production, Stranger Things was the victim of the pandemic, too. Unfortunately, it was among the productions that were affected by the pandemic the most. Although many series and movies paused shooting for a while, Stranger Things was on another level in terms of delays, which is apparent by the production status right now. Fortunately, August will probably be the month in which they’ll finally finish filming the fourth season of Stranger Things.

Though it took so long, we’re so close to a wrap on Stranger Things season 4. Major actors and actresses are finishing their scenes one by one. Cara Buono, who plays Karen Wheeler, is an example of it. She wrapped up her scenes around the end of June 2021. In addition to that, David Harbour said he just had a few more scenes left back at the beginning of June. He also said they were planning to wrap up the season this August. If everything goes right, which is probably the case right now, they’re going to finish filming this month. Then comes the ultimate question: What is the release date of Stranger Things season 4?

Stranger Things season 4 release date

Well, there’s nothing officially announced yet, but we have a clear picture of what’s going on with the process right now. According to that picture, we can expect a release date around early-mid 2022. April or May seem like a good bet, but we’ll have to wait for an official announcement.

Usually, Netflix takes around half a year to complete the post-production processes of new seasons. Stranger Things season 4 is a pretty big season with a lot of VFX needed, so we might have to wait a little longer. Therefore, the most probable release window for the new season seems to be around early-mid 2022. That also lines up with what Finn Wolfhard said earlier. The popular actor previously revealed that the new season should be on Netflix sometime in 2022.
