Even those who didn’t enjoy 2018’s Venom couldn’t deny how committed Tom Hardy was to the film. Remember that insane and much-parodied sequence at the restaurant where Hardy’s Eddie Brock cools off in a lobster tank and begins to eat the crustaceans? The entire sequence was improvised by Hardy on set, as he believed that Venom in his ravenous form, would want to only eat live food. That’s commitment right there! Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a few months out and its first trailer, released two months ago, promised more of the crazy antics that were a staple of the first film. Details on the sequel remain slim, but screenwriter and producer Kelly Marcel revealed that Hardy had a part in writing Let There Be Carnage‘s story.

In a recent interview with Empire, Kelly Marcel revealed that her frequent collaborator Tom Hardy shares a “story by” credit with her for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Hardy and Marcel have worked together for nearly 20 years but this is the first time where Hardy has officially received credit for dabbling in the creative process.

“This is new for him, to get credit but it’s not new for him to be this involved. He’s absolutely 100 per cent committed to everything that he does. He’s married to Venom. He loves this character. He’s very involved in what he thinks should happen.”
