Was Henry Cavill Just a ‘Pawn’ For Dwyane Johnson’s Superhero Flick? Insiders Have Some Opinion About It

2022 may have been a splendid and fruitful year for many, but not Henry Cavill. Leaving fans and critics alike in awe of his performance through dramas such as The Witcher and Enola Holmes, the 39-year-old computer geek was enjoying the peak of his career until the later months of the year. All, rather, most of his glam and glory shattered when Cavill gave up his Elven sword for the Superman cape, and, now, he has none in his hands! While his appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam came with multiple promises, the recruitment of James Gunn as DCEU’s head turned the tides around, leaving the Britisher’s future in the studio at stake.

Everyone knows about the actor’s position after he aimed to wear his red and blue cape and flew far away from the enchanted and mind-boggling Witcherverse, and perhaps became a victim of Yenna’s malicious enchantment as he lost all his cards at once. And while they have kept much about the entire DCEU chaos and Gunn’s apparent decision to portray a younger superman hush-hushed with fans getting no explanation at all. We now have some insider information about it:

Henry Cavill: Just an instrument for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam dream?

Per Hollywood Reporter, one of the insiders provided some insights on the exit of the most handsome Sherlock Holmes from DCEU. Conforming to their statement, the Tudors‘ actor was just a ‘pawn’ in Dwayne Johnson’s “failed attempt to control a piece of DC,” perhaps because it was the Red Notice star who first proposed and pushed to put Cavill’s Superman in his superhero flick, prompting his return to the universe alongside.

Henry Cavill notably played Clark Kent, with sheer perfection, we must say, in 2017’s Justice League. Man of Steel, later on, made cameos in movies such as Shazam! and the season 1 finale of Peacemaker after years. However, the superhero was headless, given Cavill’s busy schedule during those years. And some 5 years later, the studio awakened a little hope in fans until they abruptly blew it up. James Gunn now aims at creating a younger version of Clark Kent. Even so, we have no news of the casting of the new Superman as of now.
